US History 1 Research paper assignment
Mr. Slobodow
Spring 2019

You will have the next two weeks in class to work on this assignment. All sources must be properly cited with a Works Cited page at the end of the paper. You will choose one of the following questions to answer:

1. Were there any parts of The Articles of Confederation that were good? Should any part of it have been kept instead of what became the United States constitution? Be sure to explain yourself using research and explanations of quotes you choose to use.
   
   
2. Is Thomas Jefferson someone we should admire in United State history? What did he do that was noteworthy? What did he do that some or most would consider not honorable. Is he more of a George Washington, with an honored place in our history, or an Andrew Jackson, who is considered to be one of the biggest jerks to ever become president?

Rules to follow:

1. No “I”! Try to not use “you” either
2. Must have a thesis that answers the question on one side or the other. Do not be wishy-washy and say you see both sides of the argument. Pick a side and stick to it!
3. Must be three pages long
4. Must use a minimum of three sources (none can be Wikipedia)
5. Must be double-spaced
6. Must use Times New Roman 12-point font
7. Must include a Works Cited Page
8. Must put the author’s name in parenthesis after a quote.
9. Try to break the habit of writing like you speak. This should be more of a formal, professional paper
10. Proofread!

First grade: Must have five sources to show me by the end of class on Feb. 7/8 (depending what day you have me)
